Lamplighter
I asked AI to create the world's best incremental - Lamplighter is the result.
The last star went out a long time ago. You kept one ember.
Lamplighter is an incremental game about bringing the night sky back to life. Tap the ember to make light. Hire moths, lanterns, apprentices and lighthouses to keep it burning. Then look up. Faint rings hang in the dark where stars used to be, and they are waiting for someone.
How it plays
- Tap, hire, grow. Eleven kinds of lightkeepers, from Ember Moths to the Echoes of First Light. Several follow their own rules. Star Nurseries grow stronger the longer a night lasts, and Comet Couriers grow with every star you have lit.
- Kindle the stars. Spend light to relight 36 named stars, one connected step at a time. You choose your route across the sky. Each star you light stays lit forever.
- Wake the constellations. Finish a constellation and it wakes with a power of its own. The Keeper hires for you, the Lyre triples all light, and the Hourglass keeps the fire burning while you are away.
- Go Supernova. When your flame grows too big for your hands, let it burst. You start a new night with Stardust that multiplies everything, and every star you lit is still there.
- Catch falling stars for bursts of light, frenzies and windfalls.
- Reach the morning. Lamplighter has a real ending. Most players get there in two to five hours.
The sky changes as you play. Every kind of lightkeeper shows up in it, every star you kindle wakes the dark around it, and a quiet logbook tells the story as you go.

The sky slowly filling in with tiny stars is so satisfying. I smiled at "Moths came. Moths always come." and at the lantern lighting up a faraway star on the left. Lovely, cozy idle game!
Thank you so much for playing! Appreciate the notes too.
